Little Blakenham SUDSPod
We’re excited to share that our Suffolk team have installed a SuDS Pods at Little Blakenham Village Hall.
SuDS stands for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). These units are designed for on plot attenuation with the main aim of reducing local flood risk.
SuDS Pods are drainage units that connect to the buildings’ existing downpipes and reduce the risk of localised flooding by capturing rainwater straight from roofs and storing it temporarily. This reduces strain on the existing drainage network by introducing a lag before the water’s slowly released back to where it would normally go. At full capacity, each SuDS Pod can hold up to 445 litres of water before discharging it at a slow rate into drains.
As well as reducing flood risk, each unit has a built-in planter on top which supports pollinators and offers a water quality benefit too by filtering the rainwater naturally by infiltration.
